Giraffe Herd Bowing

Giraffe Herd Bowing - African Wildlife

This herd of giraffe were no more than 25 yards from where one of their number had been killed by lions. Whilst the lions were eating, the giraffes just stood there watching and would every so often lower their heads, as if they were paying homage to a lost friend. Every so often they started to charge, in unison, as if to vent their anger on the eating lions but sense prevailed and they stopped. Lionesses were wandering around but had full bellies, so were not interested in the giraffes.

We watched them for some time and it was a very moving sight.
